On June 25, 1950, the Korean War broke out when North Korean forces, backed by the Soviet Union and China, invaded South Korea. The United States and other United Nations member states intervened on behalf of South Korea, while China later entered the war to support the North.

The first modern credit card, known as the Diners Club Card, was introduced in 1950. It was initially used at a limited number of restaurants and businesses in New York City but eventually grew into a widespread method of payment, revolutionizing consumer spending.
