Description
A new stadium is completed in the Arroyo Seco section of Pasadena, California, and on this date it hosts its first match, a football game between California and the University of Southern California. Sportswriter Harlan "Dusty" McClure calls the new stadium the "Rose Bowl" and the name sticks.
