President Woodrow Wilson asks the United States Congress for an act of war against Germany after the Zimmerman telegram reveals the Kaiser's attempt to enlist Mexico against U.S. interests in the Great War. The sinking of the passenger liner RMS Lusitania on May 7, 1915 was also a precipitant. This marks America's entry into World War I.
