Anne - Marketing - Class of '24
Anne Horton, a fourth-generation Clemson student, created her unique experience while honoring traditions. She immersed herself in student culture, joined organizations and pursued rigorous academic programs in the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business and the Clemson University Honors College.
The Palmetto
The palmetto tree along with the "C" were added to the onyx stone on the ring design in 1901. The palmetto symbolizes the roots of the school's heritage in South Carolina.
The Eagle
President Woodrow Wilson created the ROTC programs for all land-grant colleges to take part in pre-WWI training. The federal government paid for uniforms and weapons, so the University felt they should recognize that by adding an eagle to one of the shanks in 1906.
The US Shield
In 1915, the flag shield was added to symbolize that those who fight do not only fight for Clemson, but also the Country.
